A global movement in search of opportunities is very commonplace nowadays. You find people moving to Countries like Australia, United Kingdom Netherlands, Canada, the USA, Portugal, UAE, etc. in search of opportunities missing in the Countries they have moved from. In this article, we zero in on six (6) ways to migrate to Canada, A North American Country with a net negative population, whose migration policies remain both robust and merit-based.

Number 1. The Canadian Express Entry Program

The Canadian Express Entry Program is a federal program designed and packaged mainly for skilled workers who desire to immigrate to Canada based on their, education, work experience, age, and language proficiency. You would be required to create and submit an online profile, and everyone is ranked based on a points system. Based on the rankings, the Canadian authorities release a cut-off mark or score from time to time and those who meet this minimum score are invited to proceed to apply for permanent residence in Canada.

You can check the Express Entry Program using: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry.html

Number 2. The Canadian Provincial Nomination Program (PNP)

The tiers of government in Canada include the Federal government and Provincial and territorial governments who govern the provinces and territories. The PNP allows such Provinces to nominate candidates for permanent residence, based on the specific labor needs of these provinces. The Provinces of Ontario, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, Alberta, Quebec, etc. all have their own province-specific programs, with detailed requirements for would-be immigrants.

Number 3. Work Permit

Due to the population shortage in Canada, employers would often-times recruit needed hands from abroad, processing for such recruits a “work permit.”

A work permit allows individuals to work in Canada for a specific employer and for a limited period. Work permits are usually based on a job offer, through international agreements, or for specific industries such as hospitality, transportation, agriculture, or entertainment.

Number 4. Study Permit

Intending foreign students are usually granted a Study permit to allow international students to study at a Canadian educational institution.

To obtain a Study Permit make sure you have been admitted to a Canadian school, have proof of sufficient funds to support yourself and any dependent, and be prepared to leave Canada after completing your studies.

Number 5. Visitor-Business Visa

While on a visitor-business visa, recent Canadian law allows individuals to obtain a work permit if they have a job offer. However, this pathway is only available for some time and first requires obtaining a visitor-business visa.

Number 6. Business Investor Program

Have some cash and would like to invest in foreign lands? This pathway is for you as the Business Investor Program is for individuals or Corporates who want to invest in or start a business in Canada. Provinces have certain requirements that individuals or Companies must meet – net worth, investment amount, business experience, etc.

If you or your loved one intends to relocate to Canada, further research on these areas will reveal which pathway is best for you depending on your situation, for now, all we can say is best wishes!
